Someone in here said that the term ’seo’ in a website makes that the website is flagged by the search engines.

If so, how do professional SEO’s go about to market themselves ? What will all these websites online filled with SEO Specialists ?

Thanks!

  1. “SEO” is not flagged by search engines. Whoever said it is an idiot. Else you misread what was written.

No one outside of search engines and SEO industry know about how search engines work. So any web designer, web host, or whoever, is speaking out of ignorance.

SEOs understand how search engines work based on experience among other things. How we market ourselves include SEO, PPC, advertising, networking, buying leads, etc.

  3. Actually, there is nothing wrong with SEO in the eyes of the search engines and they won’t “flag” a site for using the term. Search engines even have guidelines for acceptable practices for how to help your site more search friendly, which is what SEO is all about. SEO’s are simply individuals or companies that specialize in understanding how to make websites more search engine friendly.

One can cross the line of acceptable practices, however, by employing tricks that fool the search engines into thinking visitors will find the information they seek on a webpage, when in fact, they will not.
